Sayed Ali Shah Geelani was a protester leader in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
He was member of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir, but later on founded Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

Sayed Ali Shah Geelani was born in town Sopore Baramulla, on 29 september 1929. He took education at Sopore and finished studies at Oriental Pujab College.
- He has been observed as protester leader in Kashmir. He was blamed by Chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir for rise in bloodshed in Kashmir.
- He was re-elected for fourth time to serve as Chairman of Hurriyat conference in October 2013.
- Sayed Ali Shah Geelani was invited to participate in meeting of Foreign ministers of Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC).
- Geelani appealed to people of Kashmir to boycott Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly 2014, completely. But despite repeated boycott appeals, assembly election recorded record voter's turnout of more than 65%.

- Geelani's son Nayeem & his wife are both doctors who lived in Pakistan, but they returned to India in 2010.
